Where does it come from?
If you live or work in the Kirklees area your drinking water may be supplied from a water treatment works taking water from a river or from a reservoir.Almost half of Yorkshire's water is stored in reservoirs, a third is taken from rivers (such as the Ouse, Wharfe & Ure), and the rest is pumped from natural undergroundsources. We've more than 100 reservoirs, mostly located in the Pennine Hills to the west of Yorkshire.
To make it clean enough for you to drink, the raw water travels through a series of processes designed to remove the solid particles, chemicals and micro-organisms, leaving the water ready to drink.

Water is a very precious resource. To find out more about how we look after your water and how you can use it wisely, visit our website at www.yorkshirewater.com/drinking-water.
